Houses, Honda, and Hot

It was time for a service for the truck at the Honda dealer in Castlegar. So we took the opportunity to plan on taking our bikes along and to check out this year’s sculptures entered in Castlegar’s Sculpture Walk & Exhibition .

We did drop off another bin of new pottery to ‘Yes Please’ which took up quite a bit of time from our planned bike riding schedule, which wasn’t a bad thing. The late morning temperatures were soaring by the time we actually started touring the sculptures and so lunch was at Subway (with air conditioning) followed by a ride down to the riverside park complex. We managed to find a nice spot in the shade next to the river and enjoyed the cool breeze coming off the water.2019 07 4442019 07 445

The uphill ride back to the Honda dealer was way too hot and lonely — Fran volunteered to wait downtown while I rode back to pick up the truck — the temperature by this time was pushing 33°C so I was dripping by the time I got there.

Pottery, People, and Pets

Regatta time at Lake Newell and also time to get some pottery supplies which means a trip to Alberta. It is a long trip and seems to get longer each year we go, but it is so much fun getting to see old friends and family.

Photos of the trip out and our Air BnB

We stayed in an Air BnB in the north east part of Medicine Hat and quite reasonably priced as well. It gave us a home base for the five days that we planned to stay — visit with Curt and Barb, play golf with Eric, visit Meg at her job out in the country, and head to the Brooks area to visit friends as well as spend time at the Sailing Club.

Photos of the Sailing Club during Regatta and one of the many walks we took with Curt EARLY in the morning.

Morning walks on the many park trails in and around Medicine Hat with Curt is a must even though he likes to take them in the EARLY MORNING! The weather was great and early morning temperatures were just perfect to walk for the required number of steps, but who’s counting?

Pet cat, pet goats, pet horses, pet sheep, and downy woodpecker

Fran made an important trip to Bassano to visit friends who love her pottery so much we have to drop by every couple of years with a big bin of fresh from the kiln pottery. These are some of the most loyal customers Fran has; many are former colleagues who Fran worked with when she was teaching in Bassano.

Here’s a short video of those goats.
